You're into live sound?  This is the place to talk about it.  Problems, solutions, comments, criticisms or confessions -- bring it on in.  Come across an interesting SR-related issue?  Let's hear it.  Wondering about a particular piece of gear? Ask.  Whether you're in the corner club, local gym, boardroom, house of worship or major venue, it's all live sound and it all fits here.

I started running the sound system in my church and I know nothing about it and the system needs a face lift, I have talked the pastor about updating the system and he said ok, right now we are looking at getting 4 wireless microphones for the old system and when we build the new church a new sound system all together, I know nothing about running a sound system and want to find some information on how to. Can anyone help me?

First, I suggest that you take a look at '10 Things Your Ministry Should Know About It's Sound System' - an article we put together just for your situation.  It should get you started.

Next, if your ministry can swing it, the 'Fundamentals of Audio' instructional DVD is a solid investment.  It will walk you through the basics using real equipment and examples, and can also be used to easily train other volunteers.

After that, nothing helps more than real hands-on experience.  During some down time, take a boom box radio and set it on the stage.  Put a mic in front of it then pull it up on the house mixer. try routing that signal through the cue sends, effects (if used), recording equipment and any other needed configurations.

Audio is a unique mix of the technical and the subjective and there is no way to master it quickly, but with some practice you can most definitely get up to speed and get the job done.

If you run into specific issues, be sure to ask --
